‘Korean Monster’ Ryu Hyun-jin pitched a perfect game.

Ryu used his changeup as his main weapon and struck out three batters in the first inning.

In the bottom of the second, he threw three changeups in a row against Gabriel Arias to induce a wild swing and record his 900th major league strikeout.

But in the bottom of the fourth inning, after a hitless streak, Oscar Gonzalez’s 157-mile-per-hour fastball struck Ryu in the leg.

After fielding the ball at first base, Ryu fell to the ground in pain and was helped to the dugout by Schneider.

Upon examination, Ryu’s injury was confirmed as a right knee contusion.

In a local interview, Ryu said that his leg was swollen, but not to the point where he had trouble running or playing.

Ryu, who pitched a perfect game with a top velocity of 146 kilometers per hour and a steady delivery, was disappointed to have to postpone his quest for his first win of the season.
