The Toronto Blue Jays are in a hurry.

After ace Alec Manoa was unexpectedly demoted to the minors due to poor performance, the team is issuing an “SOS” to Ryu Hyun-jin.

Toronto fan site Jays Journal expressed its hope for Ryu in an article titled “A healthy Ryu is more important to Toronto than ever” on Nov. 11 (KST).

The site used optimistic words like “resurrection” to describe Ryu, hoping that a healthy Ryu would be able to bail out the Toronto starting pitching rotation.

Toronto fans sang “Ryu Beer Chunga,” saying he was “worth every cent” as he led Toronto to the postseason in 2020.

But when he slumped into a severe slump in the second half of 2021, they chanted, “Get him out of the starting rotation.”

Now, with Manoa out, they’re anxiously awaiting Ryu’s return.

He has, and Toronto is now in fourth place in the American League East. They are a whopping 10.5 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays. Winning the division is virtually a foregone conclusion.메이저사이트

All that’s left is a wild card spot, which won’t be easy. Hyun-jin Ryu is going to have to save the day for Toronto.

If Ryu returns healthy, the Jays won’t need to add starting pitching via trade.

The Jays Journal points out that even if Ryu doesn’t pitch like he did in 2018 and 2020, the Jays should be grateful for any contributions he makes. The desperation of Toronto fans is on full display.
