The KBO held the opening ceremony for the 2023 KBO DREAM CUP Independent Baseball Tournament at the KBO Baseball Center in Hwaksung on Sunday.
The KBO DREAM CUP Independent Baseball Tournament is the first event to be held at the KBO Baseball Center since the KBO signed an agreement with Hwaseong, Gijang, and Boeun counties in February to operate the baseball center.
KBO President Heo Gu-yeon, Hwaseong County Governor Kim Myung-ki, and Hwaseong County Council Chairman Kim Young-sook attended the opening ceremony, while KBO Talent Donation Committee Member Kim Yong-dal and KBO President Jang Jong-hoon also visited the stadium to encourage the independent baseball teams. In addition, scouts from eight professional teams visited the tournament venue, the Hwaksung KBO Baseball Center, to watch the games and closely analyze the skills of the independent baseball players.
A total of 149 players participated in the tournament, including 29 professional players. Choi Soo-hyun of Yeoncheon Miracle took the oath as the team’s representative, pledging to “compete with justice and fairness based on sportsmanship.”
In the opening game, Gapyeong Wales won 4-1 against the Pocheon Monsters, led by Jin Hyun-woo’s five-inning, eight-hit shutout in relief and the two-hit multi-hit performances of Park Seung-hwan and Won Ju-ho.메이저사이트
In the next game, the Yeoncheon Miracle defeated the Paju Challengers 7-5 in a nail-biter, led by Choi Soo-hyun, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.
The Seongnam Magpies won 7-3 against the Suwon Pineyears behind a six-inning, one-run quality start from starter Park Seung-soo and evenly matched performances from the bats.
