The preliminary roster for the Korean National Baseball Team to compete in the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) 2023, a showcase for the best of Asia’s baseball talent, has been released.
The KBO Secretariat announced the 62-man preliminary roster on Nov. 31,안전놀이터 which was finalized after a strength committee meeting on Nov. 29.
Led by Noh Shi-hwan (Hanwha Eagles), who leads the league in home runs and RBIs this season, the list is dominated by young prospects who are expected to lead Korean baseball, including Kwak Bin (Doosan Bears), Moon Dong-joo (Hanwha), Kim Do-young (KIA Tigers), and Moon Bo-kyung (LG Twins).
By club, the Lotte Giants have the most players with nine, followed by the Kiwoom Heroes and NC Dinos with seven each.
The APBC, which will be held for the second time in six years after the 2017 edition, will take place from Nov. 16-19 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
Players aged 24 or younger (born after Jan. 1, 1999) or in their third year of professional play from four countries – South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Australia – will compete, along with three wild cards per team (born after Jan. 1, 1994).
The KBO Secretariat will finalize the 26-man roster in mid-October.
