KU exploded from three-point range and completely dominated Yonsei, just as head coach Joo Hee-jung expected.

KU defeated Yonsei 62-45 in a KUSF College Basketball U-League 2023 home game on Nov. 25 at KU’s Hwajung Gymnasium. KU extended its winning streak to 10 games and retained sole possession of first place, while Yonsei suffered its first loss in nine games.

The final score was 17 points, but KU led 60-30 with 6:46 left in the fourth quarter. It was a complete domination of Yonsei.

This is the first time KU has won a regular season game against Yonsei by 17 points. The previous largest margin of victory was 14 points (74-60 in 2012 and 93-79 in 2017).

It was also the first time KU was held to fewer than 50 points. Yonsei’s previous lowest point total in a game was 53 points against KU last year.

It was the defense and three-point shooting that allowed KU to pull off a complete victory over its rival.

KU head coach Joo Hee-jung emphasized defense before the game, saying, “If we don’t make 3-pointers, it will be a close game, and if we make 3-pointers, we will win by 20 points.”

KU was shooting 32.6 percent (78-of-239) from three-point range before this game. Against Kyung Hee University, they shot just 13.0% (3-of-23) from three-point range, but against Myongji University, they exploded for 18 three-pointers (58.1%).

Prior to this game, KU was the top three-point shooter in the conference at 8.7 per game, but they have had their ups and downs.

This was one of those days when the 3-pointers were falling.

After falling behind early in the game, KU turned the tide with a three-pointer by Moon Yoo-hyun and a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Yoon Ki-chan to end the first quarter with a 14-12 lead.메이저사이트

KU didn’t score much from behind the arc, but gradually increased its lead through three-point shooting.

KU made 12 three-pointers on the night. Their three-point percentage was also higher than usual at 38.7% (12/31). This was in contrast to Yonsei, which shot just 5.3% (1/19) from three-point range.

KU, as expected by coach Joo Hee-jeong, was able to capitalize on its three-point shooting and virtually clinch the regular season title.

For reference, KU is currently averaging 9.0 3-pointers per game. The team is on pace to surpass its 2012 KU record of 8.5.
